Hearts and Arrows Diamonds

Hearts and arrows cut diamonds are described as the most shiny in the world and represent less than 1% of cut diamonds.
These diamonds are cut according to the so-called “ideal proportions” close to the perfect proportions theorised in the scientific study by Marcel Tolkowsky on refraction and reflection of light.
The hearts and arrows cut has become a model of proportion and symmetry: certain bending angles of diamond facetes are aimed to obtain the highest light reflection on the diamond surface.

If a diamond has been perfectly cut according to this model, it is possible using a special visor to distinguish a curious phenomenon of light taking shape as shown in the image below, the outline of hearts and arrows.

Only diamonds that display a precise and symmetrical hearts and arrows pattern can be defined as “Hearts and Arrows” diamonds.
