From 2023 GIA certificate will be digital

GIA (Gemological Institute of America) is an organization founded in 1931 and recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities in gemology. GIA invented the famous 4Cs of color, clarity, cut and carat weight and, in 1953, created the International Diamond Grading System™, recognized worldwide as the standard for diamond quality.

From 1 January 2023 GIA has launched the fully digital Diamond Dossier Report. The Institute will transform all of its paper reports into digital format by 2025.

Diamonds certified by GIA after this date will not be accompanied by a paper certificate but by a small label showing the report number and the QR code which connects them to the digital version of the certificate.

Example of the GIA Label:

It will then be possible to verify the GIA certificate and possibly print it by connecting to their site via QR code or by directly typing the certificate number on the following web page: https://www.gia.edu/report-check-landing

There is also an App, specially developed by GIA and available on the App Store or Google Play (https://www.gia.edu/app)

The GIA Diamond Dossier will be available for natural diamonds from A to Z from 0.15 to 1.99 carats without color treatments. GIA Diamond Dossier reports printed and issued prior to January 2023 remain valid.

More information is available on the GIA official website:

NB: with the purchase of a diamond, Luxedo will offer its customers the printing and storage of the GIA certificate free of charge.
